SINGAPORE - Singapore hiring is likely to see stable growth in 2019, with top jobs in demand to be analytical and data-driven in nature, according to the latest annual salary survey by recruitment firm Robert Walters. These include data scientists, product management, user experience (UX) designers, and digital roles, with cyber security to remain a major focus, in the wake of recent high-profile cyber attacks in Singapore. The report also found that job movers in Singapore can expect pay increments of 5 per cent to 15 per cent in 2019, and larger hikes can be expected for candidates with specialised skill sets in IT, digital and financial services. SINGAPORE - Jobs in technology that also require management and communication skills are growing the fastest in Singapore, a LinkedIn report revealed. According to the report, the top five emerging jobs in Singapore are data scientist, cyber security specialist, user experience designer, head of digital and content specialist. LinkedIn analysed millions of unique, user-input job titles based on common job roles and counted the frequencies of job titles that were held in 2013. It then compared the results to job titles that were held in 2017. Jobs in data science grew at a rate of 17 times, from 2013 to 2017. Jobs in cyber security grew at a rate of 5.5 times, while jobs in user experience design grew at 3.4 times. Head of digital and content specialist jobs both grew at a rate of three times. NEW YORK (BLOOMBERG) - For the fourth consecutive year, the technology sector boasted the highest-paying jobs in the US, according to an annual report from Glassdoor. Thirteen of the 25 highest-paying jobs this year were in tech, up from 11 in 2017, according to the report, which was released on Wednesday (Aug 15). Within the industry, enterprise architects, software development managers, software engineering managers and software architects received the highest pay, with the lowest average base salary well over US$100,000 (S$137,900). The report gathered salary data from millions of employees, examined job titles that received a minimum of 100 salary reports over the past year, and used algorithms to estimate the median annual base pay. Top talent in Singapore’s financial services sector are now in a more favourable position to negotiate higher starting salaries. Reuters Singapore’s financial sector employers are willing to pay above-average wages in a bid to secure top talent, a recent study revealed. Based on findings from independent research commissioned by US-based specialised recruitment consultancy Robert Half, the majority (95%) of Singapore’s financial service employers are prepared to raise initially-planned starting salaries by an average of 10% to secure the best financial services talent. Such a move would place potential candidates in a more favourable position to negotiate higher starting salaries, according to Robert Half.
