Google Maps is working on a new feature which could aid in helping people walk home safely. Once the feature is out, Google Maps will highlight bright lit roads which users can choose to take in their commutes. This feature is currently in testing and was discovered by xdadevelopers. Currently dubbed “Lighting Layer” this feature will highlight well lit streets on Google Maps with a yellow colour indication. “Yellow lines show streets with good lighting”, reads the feature description on Google Maps. This would help users figure out which streets have poor or no lighting. This feature was discovered in an APK teardown of Google Maps beta version 10.31.0. With regard to his investment in Ola, Bansal said that on the one hand, the ride-hailing major had emerged as a global force in the mobility space and on the other it continued to build deeper for various needs of a billion Indians through its platform. This is the largest funding by an individual in the app cab. Ride-hailing firm Ola on Tuesday confirmed an investment of Rs 650 crore ($92 million) from Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal. This investment, which has been made by Bansal in his personal capacity as an investor, is part of Ola’s larger Series J funding round and values the Bengaluru firm at around $6.5 billion, according to sources with the direct knowledge of the development. A highway pile-up involving at least five vehicles killed two persons on Saturday morning. The incident happened along the Sahajpur phata, near Oasis Hotel, at 6:30am on Saturday, according to the police. The deceased have been identified as Omkar alias Raju Anna Gawand, 30, a resident of Ravangaon in Daund and Virendra Singh Yadav, 35, a resident of Kurkumbh in Daund. The two were travelling in a Maruti Eeco along with another person who also sustained injuries, said police. The injured has been identified as Kailas Ramchandra Bhagwat. He was rushed to Vishwaraj hospital in Loni Kalbhor.
