Auto stocks on Tuesday increased as much as over 5 per cent after a rise in auto sales volume for February. With all the auto stocks ending in green, Tata Motors gained the most by ending at Rs 345.7, higher 5.36 per cent. Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd spurted 4.98 per cent to Rs 859.9. Besides, Hero MotoCorp's scrip closed at Rs 3,474.8 by rising 3.73 per cent and Bajaj Auto went up by 3.53 per cent to Rs 3,947.55. In addition, Maruti Suzuki India closed at Rs 7,215.25 with 2.83 per cent gain and Balkrishna Industries Ltd rose 2.69 per cent to Rs 1,627.45. Exports dip marginally in Feb; trade deficit widens
After recording positive growth for two months in a row, India's exports dipped marginally by 0.25 per cent to $27.67 billion in February and trade deficit widened to $12.88 billion, according to preliminary data released by the government on Tuesday. Imports grew 6.98 per cent to $40.55 billion during the month, the data showed. The trade deficit stood at $10.16 billion in February 2020. Exports during April-February 2020-21 were $255.92 billion, compared with $291.87 billion during the same period of last year, exhibiting a negative growth of 12.32 per cent. Imports during April-February this fiscal also dipped 23 per cent to $340.88 billion. In February, oil imports declined 16.63 per cent to $$8.99 billion. It was down by 40.18 per cent to $72.08 billion during 11 months period of the current fiscal. According to the national education index released by the Education Ministry on Feb. 26, 50 percent of Koreans aged 25-64 had completed higher education as of 2019. The proportion was barely more than 10 percent as recently as the 1990s. But it started to increase as more colleges and universities opened with eased restrictions in 1995, rising to 23.8 percent in 2000 and more than doubling to 50 percent in 2019. Korea is among the top-ranked countries in terms of the proportion of adults aged 25-64 with college or higher degrees, coming in fifth among the 38 OECD member nations, whose average was 39 percent. It is outpaced by Canada (59.4 percent) and Japan (52.7 percent).
