MANILA, Philippines — Ramil de Jesus, the architect of De La Salle University’s two-decade dominance of UAAP women’s volleyball, is now the head coach of the Philippine women’s volleyball team. De Jesus was officially introduced to national team hopefuls during their tryout on Friday at the Arellano Gym in Legarda. De Jesus previously coached the national team in 2005, guiding them to the bronze in the Southeast Asian Games. He was also supposed to take charge of the team for the 2015 SEA Games, but that squad was disbanded following the change of leadership in volleyball in the country. MANILA, Philippines – Even as he has yet to sign a contract with the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI), celebrated mentor Ramil de Jesus is already feeling the pressure that comes with coaching the national women's volleyball team. De Jesus's name has been prominently mentioned in social media over the weekend, with several saying that he has been tabbed as the new head coach of the national team, replacing Francis Vicente. However, the De La Salle University mentor clarified that he has yet to sign anything, although he acknowledged that he has already met with officials of the LVPI last week and was even part of the meeting that set up the tryout for the national team on Friday. News Many UAAP volleyball stars likely to skip LVPI tryout
MANILA, Philippines – Many high profile UAAP volleyball stars are unlikely to attend the open tryout scheduled by the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI) at the Arellano University gym on April 13. The LVPI announced on Tuesday that it will hold a tryout from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with incumbent members of the national team expected to show up. But players from the collegiate leagues are also welcome to attend and try their luck at making it to the national team. However, several UAAP players on Wednesday said that they will most likely not attend the tryout, which aims to form a pool of players for the Asian Games and the AVC Asian Women's Cup. News Report: Open tryout set for women’s national volleyball team
MANILA, Philippines – The Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) has scheduled an open tryout for the women's national volleyball team next week. A report on Philstar.com quoted LVPI vice-president Peter Cayco who said the open tryout will be held on April 13 at Arellano University from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The open tryout marks the formal start of the preparation for the Asian Games and the AVC Asian Women's Cup. Cayco also revealed that they have already tapped a new head coach for the women's team to replace Francis Vicente. While he did not name the coach, Cayco did say that there is already a "wish list" regarding national team players.
