Jakarta. Jakarta Fashion Week, a week-long fashion event that features the most hyped fashion talents from Indonesia, opened at Senayan City shopping mall in Jakarta on Saturday (20/10). The event was chockablock with government officials, foreign dignitaries and Jakarta's fashionistas in their best get-ups. "In its eleventh year, Jakarta Fashion Week has become the most important [and] largest fashion week in the region, and a pride of Jakarta," Svida Alisjahbana, the Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) chairwoman, said in her opening remarks. "This week, we'll go on a collective journey filled with colors, trends and new directions for Indonesian and world fashion," she said. "We'll explore not only our historical roots, from songket to ikat, but also the fashion histories and styles from many other countries, including England, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Pakistan, India and France. Dutch lawyer is the first person to be sentenced in Mueller’s Russia probe, gets 30 days in prison
By Chad Day The Associated Press Tues., April 3, 2018 WASHINGTON—A Dutch attorney who lied to federal agents investigating former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was sentenced Tuesday to 30 days in prison in the first punishment handed down in special counsel’s Russia investigation. He was also ordered to pay a $20,000 (U.S.) fine. Alex van der Zwaan’s sentence could set a guidepost for what other defendants charged with lying in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation may receive when their cases are resolved. Among them are a former White House national security adviser and a Trump campaign foreign policy aide. Van der Zwaan had faced zero to six months in prison under federal sentencing guidelines, and his attorneys had pushed for him to pay a fine and leave the country. Simona Mangiante, the fiancée of former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, described in an interview last week what her life has been like since Papadopoulos was arrested and put on house arrest last July. Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with a Russia-linked professor, and Mangiante soon found herself in Mueller’s crosshairs, too. Mangiante says she and Papadopoulos are trying to keep their relationship as normal as possible, and are planning an engagement party later this year.
