Guwahati: Amid widespread protests in Assam against the amended Citizenship Act, BJP’s ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has decided to launch a massive campaign in the state. “Earlier, the protest was limited to Urban centres. Now, it has spread to upper Assam and villages. We will make people understand the dangers the state will face if the new law isn’t enforced,” A senior RSS leader said. This comes amid reports that many BJP leaders have resigned from the party as a mark of protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. A senior BJP leader said: “Last month, there was a meeting of BJP leaders in Guwahati. It was attended by party leader Ram Madhav too. LUDHIANA: The civic body is yet to receive the final notification for vending zone sites approved in the MC general house in its meeting held in September. However, the officials could not make the city’s first vending zone operational that was proposed to come up in Hambran Road. In order to establish the vending zones in the city, the civic body officials had identified as many as 112 sites where street vendors could be rehabilitated. The house members had given nod for these sites and it was sent to local bodies department for approval which is still awaited. The officials claimed that local bodies department will notify the sites first and then the notification will come to them. Last year, over 40 sites were notified and officials had proposed the city’s first vending zone at Hambran Road which is yet to see light of day.
