A 42-year-old man, who allegedly helped the former City Harvest Church leader Chew Eng Han to attempt to leave the country illegally, is now under police custody. Singapore Police Force said in a statement on Sunday that the accused, Tan Kim Ho, was arrested in Malaysia after issuing a warrant against him by the Singapore State Court. A spokesman said that the Royal Malaysia Police helped in the arrest and the local police took him into custody on Saturday, April 14. The ex-leader Chew was supposed to begin his jail term of three years and four months on February 22 for misappropriating charitable money. But he tried to escape from the country on February 21 via a motorised boat from Pulau Ubin Jetty at around 8.30 am and was caught by Police Coast Guard a few minutes before his escape. Singapore: Malaysian man charged for robbing S$365,000 during fake bitcoin transaction
A 36-year-old Malaysian man, the prime suspect of a looting case that involved two men and a total cash of S$365,000, was charged with robbery on Tuesday, April 12. The accused, Mohd Abdul Rahman Mohamad allegedly robbed another Malaysian, Pang Joon Hau, who came to Singapore to buy bitcoins along with his broker. The accused punched in his face at Hotel 81 along Middle Road on Apr 8. Another Singaporean, Syed Mokhtar Syed Yusope helped Abdul Rahman and was charged on April 11 for same allegations. Reports said that both the victims of this incident wanted to buy the cryptocurrency. When Syed Mokhtar met the victims, he pretended to be a bitcoin seller and Abdul Rahman introduced himself as a part-time broker. Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a statement on Sunday, April 8 that Singapore and Malaysia police had launched a joint operation to nail down suspects involved in a Johor-based drug syndicate.The officers from CNB, including Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) of the Royal Malaysia Police have arrested 16 people and seized 14kg of heroin after a raid.The director of CNB, Ng Ser Song said that they have managed to dismantle a drug syndicate that was supplying a sizeable amount of drugs to Singapore. The operation has helped them to prevent a large number of drugs from flowing into the streets of the south-east Asian country, the said.Both the agencies had received an information on Tuesday, April 3 from an intelligence network that a consignment of drugs was arriving in Singapore. A 45-year-old Malaysian man has been arrested for his role in Chew Eng Han's alleged attempt to leave Singapore unlawfully last week. Khoo Kea Leng was arrested in Malaysia with the assistance of the Royal Malaysia Police, following a warrant of arrest issued by the Singapore State Courts, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a statement yesterday. He was handed over to SPF's custody yesterday. The Straits Times understands he was arrested in Johor Baru. Khoo allegedly accepted money from Chew, 57, to facilitate the arrangements for him to leave Singapore. They are understood to have met in Singapore to discuss Chew's alleged escape attempt. A 45-year-old Malaysian man, who was allegedly involved in the City Harvest Church (CHC) case, as he helped ex-leader Chew Eng Han to escape from Singapore, has been arrested in Malaysia. Singapore State Courts issued an arrest warrant against the suspect named Khoo Kea Leng, who was caught by Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) and on Monday he was handed to Singapore Police Force (SPF). According to reports, the 57-year-old Chew was presented during the court hearing on Thursday, February 22 for attempting to flee the country with 53-year-old Tan Poh Teck, from Pulau Ubin on Wednesday.
