Like Rajini, ill-health may mar Sasikala’s political plans too

· January 23, 2021 ·

Sure enough, the Supreme Court, for its part, did not calculate forward while upholding the lower courts’ orders for Sasikala to be released from prison only months ahead of the Tamil Nadu polls. But definitely, Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), the incumbent chief minister, also belonging to Jayalalithaa’s AIADMK, has calculated the day for him to inaugurate the Jayalalithaa memorial in Chennai on January 27, the very day Sasikala was originally set to walk out of the Bengaluru prison,  as if to dare her and his other detractors in the party to take him on, if they can, ahead of the state assembly polls due in May. … [Read more...] about Like Rajini, ill-health may mar Sasikala’s political plans too

· January 24, 2021 ·

The committee constituted by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has recommended direct payment of insurance premium to the insurance company while purchasing a vehicle, thereby suggesting separate payments for both buying the vehicle and the premium. The Committee for Review of MISP (Motor Insurance Service Provider) Guidelines examined the current practice of collecting the premium payment from the customer while soliciting the motor insurance policy. "The customer should make payment to the insurance company directly which is facilitated by the MISP. MISP shall not collect the insurance premium amount in its own account and then transfer the same to the insurance company," its report said. The MISP then pays through the insurance intermediary or directly to the insurance company through his own account. The customer does not know the insurance premium being paid as it is subsumed in the cost of the vehicle. "This lack of transparency is not in … [Read more...] about Pay for vehicle, insurance separately, suggests IRDAI panel

There is a clear narrative here: these laws are aimed at the poor. … [Read more...] about Why Modi has been a success so far
