A nuclear engineeer by profession, Arunachalam claims she is “fighting biases” as she seeks to enforce her father’s will and take his place on the firm's board by virtue of the family’s stake in the holding company. She backs her claim by saying that even the Hindu Succession Act recognises the right of women to head the family. Succession and inheritance laws are still grey areas for many women, largely due to the lack of uniformity in inheritance laws with various religious communities governed by their own personal laws and different state tribals by their customary laws.
