source Hollis Johnson/Business Insider The Galaxy S9 is a bit like the weather report in a sunny state or country: another boring, beautiful day. It’s yet another fantastic smartphone from Samsung, but it’s not especially exciting. The new features Samsung announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona felt like the mundane “waterskiing squirrel” story of a news station that has no news to report. AR Emoji? Waterskiing squirrel. Variable-aperture camera? Double-backflip waterskiing squirrel. Still, Samsung made some improvements where it counts, and the S9 is a better phone than its predecessor, the Galaxy S8. Samsung keeps reminding us that it listens to its customers, and that shows in the Galaxy S9. But Samsung is also stubborn with certain things like the Bixby button, which is still, unfortunately, present on the Galaxy S9. Check out the new Galaxy S9 from Samsung: You’ve seen the design before, but it’s … [Read more...] about Samsung’s Galaxy S9 is proof that you don’t need to spend $1,000 for a great smartphone

caption The Chevy Colorado ZR2 in all its glory. source Matthew DeBord/BI The 2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 is a highly capable off-roader, with a robust 4WD system. But the pickup can still do everyday duty. For the price, you’re getting a lot of truck for the money. I’ve always been a big fan of the Chevy Colorado, the compact (really, mid-sized) pickup truck that Chevy rolled out a few years ago to invigorate the small-pickup segment. The Chevy Colorado has been a big hit, compelling Ford to revive its own Ranger pickup in the US. So in addition to a pickup-truck war among the big guys – the Ford F-150 full-size, along with the forthcoming all-new Chevy Silverado and the Ram 1500 – we have a skirmish shaping up in the smaller-pickup segment, between Chevy and Ford. Adding to the fun is the bevy of high-performance variants we now have in the market. We just put the Chevy Silverado Z71 up … [Read more...] about I drove a $43,500 Chevy Colorado ZR2 — and it was one of the best pickups I’ve ever tested
By Kevin McGran Sports Reporter Fri., March 2, 2018 This battle for home-ice advantage between Toronto and Boston should be interesting. The Bruins moved back atop the Maple Leafs for second place in the Atlantic Division with an 8-4 win on Thursday night over Pittsburgh. By the numbers, the Bruins have the easier path. They have four games in hand on Toronto, and already have one more point (86 to 85). The website SportsClubStats says the Bruins have a 65 per cent chance of finishing second. The Leafs have an 88 per cent chance of finishing third. Seems like a reasonable outcome. But the Bruins have a tougher schedule. Boston has more games to play in the same time frame. And they have to go out West. Boston plays 13 games in 23 days from March 10 to April 1, including two four-game road trips, with one of those trips to (in order): St. Louis, Dallas, Minnesota, Winnipeg. They have 11 games on the road, versus nine at home. Article Continued Below … [Read more...] about Can the Maple Leafs get home-ice advantage for the playoffs?

Everything else is a minefield waiting to be stepped on. It doesn’t matter how many books you read, videos you watch, classes you take or parents you talk to, raising your own child and the affects it will have on you will only become known once you’re in the trenches. While it may sometimes sound like war, having a kid is truly incredible. There are a few things, however, I wish I knew before my son arrived. You’re on your own source Shutterstock The baby’s born. Family comes to visit you at the hospital, friends send you text messages and your social media blows up with good wishes from the kid you sat next to in third grade. Then after 48 hours, at which point your insurance company strong-arms the hospital to … [Read more...] about 15 things I wish I knew before becoming a dad
caption “You could give me a million dollars, and it wouldn’t be better than one day here,” our flight attendant says. source Rachel Gillett/Business Insider Robert “Bingo” Bingochea is a Denver-based flight attendant for United Airlines who commutes to work from his home in Phoenix. Bingochea has been a flight attendant with United for seven years and previously worked in the airline industry in other capacities. Though he says every day on the job is different, we joined him on a trip from Denver to Houston and back to capture what a day in the life of a flight attendant may look like. It’s 3 a.m., and I’m jolted awake by the ring of the hotel phone. The bright red numbers on the clock next to me are the only thing illuminating my pitch-black hotel room, and I groan as I roll over and steal another five minutes of sleep. When I checked in to the hotel at … [Read more...] about A day in the life of a United Airlines flight attendant, who woke up before 3 a.m. and ran circles around me for 9 hours
