If there's one advice that some Apple analysts have for people contemplating on buying this year's supposed iPhone 11, it would be to hold off purchasing a new unit this year. According to a report from Forbes, unless you really need to replace your phone, it is best to consider buying an iOS phone by 2020 when most of the Cupertino giant's "radical" smartphones will be introduced. Information from trusted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shows Apple's grand plans for the 2020 iPhones. If rumors turn out to be true, then it is truly worth holding off before actually purchasing this year's Apple smartphones. One of the most anticipated to arrive next year is the rumored follow-up to the surprisingly popular iPhone SE. The supposed iPhone SE 2 will be more than just a follow-up to the former model, however. The new phone is expected to be a total redesign of the iPhone X since Apple is said to be planning some drastic changes to its current flagship line. Apple took aim at Facebook and Google with new privacy tools, and at Netflix with a new personalised TV app, in a wide-ranging keynote address on Monday (Jun 3) at its annual developer conference which also brought the demise of iTunes. The iPhone maker’s annual event in San Jose offered a fresh glimpse at Apple’s ambitions in healthcare, augmented reality, wearable devices and artificial intelligence, as well as its long-running objective to turn the iPad into a more viable laptop alternative.“Today we moved all of our software platforms forward,” chief executive Tim Cook concluded. Updates to Apple’s iPhone, iPad, Watch and Mac operating systems will be released to consumers later in the year. Many Apple fans have been sniffing for details about the upcoming iPhones this year and next year. Among the next-generation devices, however, many are hoping to finally get some clues as to when exactly will the tech giant release its successor to the very successful iPhone SE. Interestingly, a new report appears to have the answer. So here's what we know about the potential release of the iPhone SE 2. According to Chinese-language outlet Economic Daily News (via Digitimes), Apple's partner company Pegatron is about to land orders for a "4.7-inch revised version of the iPhone 8" soon. MacRumors picked up this report and indicated that this could be the iPhone SE 2. The Apple-centric news outlet surmised that this might mean that the long-awaited handset could sport iPhone 8 internals. If true, then the iPhone SE 2 … [Read more...] about iPhone SE 2 release date: Revamped SE model arriving next year?
ALBANY, California — On a recent afternoon at the Lao Thai Kitchen restaurant, the telephone rang and the caller ID read “Google Assistant.” Jimmy Tran, a waiter, answered the phone. The caller was a man with an Irish accent hoping to book a dinner reservation for two on the weekend. This was no ordinary booking. It came through Google Duplex, a free service that uses artificial intelligence to call restaurants and — mimicking a human voice — speak on our behalf to book a table. The feature, which had a limited release about a year ago, recently became available to a larger number of Android devices and iPhones. The voice of the Irish man sounded eerily human. When asked whether he was a robot, the caller immediately replied, “No, I’m not a robot,” and laughed. “It sounded very real,” Tran said in an interview after hanging up the call with Google. “It was perfectly human.” Google later confirmed, to our … [Read more...] about News Google’s Duplex uses AI to mimic humans
