The makers of Sudani From Nigeria, the Malayalam movie that won the National Award for the Best Malayalam cinema (2018) will boycott the award ceremony this year as a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019. The film's director Zakariya Mohammed took it to his social media page to let the world know about the protest. The film won five awards at the 2018 Kerala State Film Awards, including Best Screenplay, Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value, Best Debut Director, Best Actor (Shahir), and Best Character Actress (Savithri and Sarasa). The crew of the national award winning movie 'Sudani from Nigeria' has decided to bocyott the National awards function in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. The Soubin Shahir starrer movie bagged the National award for the Best Malayalam film in 66th National Film Awards. Director Zakariya Mohammed took to Facebook, protesting against CAA and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). NEW DELHI: In more good news for the Assamese film industry, a movie on children raised during a violent period in Assam has received as many as eight nominations at a US festival. "Xhoihobote Dhemalite" (Rainbow fields) directed by Bidyut Kotoky has received nominations for best feature film, director, screenplay, actor (Nakul Vaid), actress (Dipannita Sharma), supporting actor (Victor Banerjee), cinematography (Satya Prakash Rath) and score (Anurag Saikia) at the Love International Film Festival (LIFF), Los Angeles. Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Article 15’ Wins Big At London Indian Film Festival
London: Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer "Article 15" has picked up the Audience Award at the London Indian Film Festival (LIFF). The 10th edition of the UK and Europe's South Asian film festival, supported by the Bagri Foundation and the British Film Institute (BFI), opened with Anubhav Sinha's hard-hitting thriller "Article 15" on June 20. The film won the Audience Award on June 29. "Article 15" aims to remind people about Article 15 of the Constitution which prohibits any discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth, and how its value has been forgotten. The investigative thriller features Ayushmannn as a police officer, with Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra, Isha Talwar and Manoj Pahwa in key roles.
