‘CoWIN process smooth unlike past two days’
Many beneficiaries, mostly senior citizens, who took the vaccine on Wednesday said that the process was smooth. Officials of multiple hospitals also said there were no issues with the CoWIN platform, where details of beneficiaries are entered and checked before vaccination, on Wednesday unlike the past two days. A total of 25,054 beneficiaries took the COVID-19 vaccination in the city on Wednesday and there were four Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI), said a Delhi government spokesperson. Of the total beneficiaries, 13,794 were people who are 60 years of age and above, 1,625 people were between 45 and 59 years of age. The number of people belonging to both age groups taking the vaccination have increased steadily since it started Monday. Ao Hushan, an anesthetist from the Fuwai Hospital in Beijing, said that in the past three years, "uplifting progress" has been witnessed in the public access to AED machines, portable and lifesaving devices to resuscitate people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. In Shenzhen, Guangdong province, the number of AEDs has risen from 500 in 2018 to about 5,000 recently, and is expected to reach the international standard of 300 devices per 10,000 people in the next five or ten years, according to Ao. COVID-19 | 2,938 new cases in Kerala
Kerala’s cumulative case burden of COVID-19 cases rose to 10,64,279, with the State reporting 2,938 new cases on Tuesday, when 68,094 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. The test positivity rate that dropped below 5% for the first time on Monday, stayed at 4.31% on Tuesday. Of the 68,094 tests done by the State, 38,449 were rapid antigen assay while the RT-PCR test numbered 26,951. Other molecular diagnostic tests like Truenat, CBNAAT, constituted the remaining tests. The State has been reporting significantly higher number of recoveries than new cases since the past several days, helping the active case pool drop steadily. On Tuesday, with 3,512 persons reported to have recovered from their disease, the active case pool dropped to 47,277. The cumulative recoveries reported by the State ever since the pandemic began thus rose to 10,12, 484 cases.
