The Jammu and Kashmir administration has announced the elevation of three 1996-batch IPS officers, including Jammu Zone Inspector General of Police Mukesh Singh to the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP).The announcement comes following a meeting chaired by state chief secretary B V R Subrahmanyam following which recommendations were sent to the Departmental Promotion Committee. The DPC later cleared the promotions of IGP (Crime) M K Sinha and IGP (Armed Jammu zone), besides that of Singh.The DPC has also cleared confirmation for three 2007-batch IPS officers including Udhampur-Reasi Range DIG Sujit Kumar, Jammu-Kathua-Samba Range DIG Vivek Gupta and North Kashmir Range DIG M Suleman Choudhary at the rank they are currently serving at.Also, Doda Kishtwar Ramban Range DIG Abdul Jabbar (IPS-2008) has been promoted for selection grade level 13. Government assures Coal India of ‘full support’, stresses on learning ‘new things’
New Delhi: Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi on Thursday assured Coal India of full government support, even as he said the PSU needs to learn "new things" for improvement in its future prospects. The minister, who was speaking during the launch of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) of Coal India Ltd (CIL), said there will be full support to the company because it is the "backbone of the country". "But having said that the improvement is a continuous process, learning is a continuous process....let us learn new things, new ideas, new approach, and new goal. And in this, the image of coal (sector), Coal India needs to be changed. We have to change the image of Coal India," Joshi stressed. The ERP of CIL will help improve business performance and growth of the company with enhanced data integrity. Stating that one and two subsidiaries of CIL were doing very good work, the minister said that other arms of the PSU should also learn from them. NITI Aayog, along with the Institute for Competitiveness, has released the second edition of the India Innovation Index 2020 through a virtual event on Wednesday.Karnataka retained its top position in the ‘Major States’ category, while Maharashtra moved past Tamil Nadu to reach the second place. Telangana, Kerala, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab occupied the top ten in that order.Karnataka’s rank is attributable to its substantive number of venture capital deals, registered geographical indicators and information and communications technology exports. Karnataka’s high Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflow has also enhanced the innovation capabilities of the state.
